The proposed Construction as a System approach is offered based on the successful application of Deming’s System of Profound Knowledge (SoPK) in manufacturing. This knowledge system has also been proven successful though a new ConTech class, “Intelligent AutomationSystem”.  Building CATALYST provides the first application of that system.

In our approach to construction reform, we’ve learned that the transformation from our fragmented and inefficient state - to one that is highly integrated, automated, and operationally efficient – is beyond any incremental process improvement strategy. It will require a wholesale, albeit simplified, replacement of our siloed processes and technologies with the Deming System of Profound Knowledge applied to construction.

Therefore, from construction science professors and students- to leaders among owners, advisors, architects, engineers, and builders – reforming construction will require the retraining of the patterns of thought based on W.Edwards Deming's System of Profound Knowledge. Starting in 2027, Building CATALYST will provide an applied training course on Construction as a System, based on Deming’s System of Profound Knowledge.
